Getting More of What You Want
Mindset Monday - Episode 12 Transcript
Want What You Already Have
How do you get what you want all the time? How do you increase from ambition to accomplishment?
I'm Shane Fielder with Samurai innovation where we blend the secrets of the Samurai with cutting-edge strategies to sharpen you and your business results. This week’s coaching tip for you is, how to go from ambition to accomplishment.
The simple phrase I want you to think about is; want what you already have. Yes it’s very simple ''want what you already have''. And here’s a key secret behind this; if you wake up in the morning and you want what you already have, that focus, that level of appreciation and gratitude for what you have in your life will do two things for you;
A. It will harn you in on all the things that you do have in your life, so that you can celebrate those things so you can be grateful for them.
B. Then it will give you that level of appreciation that as you take the things you do have and move towards the things that you want to have, there will be power and that power will get you motivated and it will inspire you.
Some examples; I think of my German SShepherd ''Samurai Claire''. I want her, I think about her and I think wow! What if I didn't have her and what if I didn’t have her to play with and to train with and do all sorts of cool stuff with? My life will be kind of different, so I really want her. At the end of the day I want to go home and do some training with her and play with her and follow-up on the things that we're working on.
So, I already want what I already have.
I think about my wife and the beautiful woman she is and the relationship that we have and I want that even more and guess what? By wanting that, it helps me to come up with the things that I need to do to nurse our relationship and grow that relationship and so I wanted even more and I go for it and guess what happens? Good things typically come from that.
Think about your employees or the people you work with; want them, want their help, want them. You hired them at one point in time because they had some skills and abilities and then what I find a lot of times is people end up grouchy and complaining about their employees and go back to the point when you really wanted them to join your team. Want them as much as that again and see how much that changes the relationship.
The things in your house or your home or car or whatever you're steward of today, want that. Take better care of it, wash your car, clean your car clean your house, take the things you have and take great care of them. That shows that you want them even more than you already have them.
And guess what will happen for you?
As you do these things you will appreciate them more, they will serve you better, your attitude will lighten, and you’ll be happier and guess what? Everybody around you will notice that. Everybody around you will notice and say hey Jim is a lot lighter these days; he's a lot happier. Hey Jim! What are you doing these days, what’s different about you? And you say nothing much I just kind of want what I already have. And guess what; what happens then is it takes you very far towards accomplishing what you want.
That’s just a little secret for you this week...
