What's Your Excuse For Not Getting Your Goals Done?
What's Your Excuse For Not Getting Your Goals Done?
Mindset Monday, your week begins now.
Tell me… what's your excuse? Give me your best excuse. Send me an email. I'd love to hear them. I too like you struggle with telling myself excuses sometimes as to why don't want to accomplish something.
An excuse is your way of hiding the fact that you're scared of going for what you want.
So you tell yourself these excuses like I can't or I shouldn't or I can't do that or somebody said I can't do that. Don't tell yourself those excuses just start doing things. Start walking towards the things that you want to do and they will become easier and easier and more attainable.
I'm on this trip and I wanted to do something that was physically engaging but I didn't want to sit in the gym. Rather than tell myself , "you're on vacation, you don't have to work out and all that kind of good stuff". I came up with a backup plan and said to myself, "okay great… I don't want to hit the gym. I don't want to lift heavy weights today but I want to do something".
Guess what? I found this little deck you'll see a picture on the screen for yourself. I threw down a towel and I did a simple upper, middle, lower body workout. I crushed out six rounds with some cardio and 45 minutes later, I'm done. I'm sweating like crazy. I feel good. I feel exhilarated and I did something that moves me closer to where I want to be.
What about you this week?
What kind of mindset can you take into moving closer to where you want to be and further away from your excuses and where you don't want to be?
In order to obliterate your excuses, you need to come up with a couple of options. You need to have option A option B and option C for your excuses. If you're planning to do something outside and it rains and it's storming, what's your option B to do something fun and exhilarating inside? What's your option C? You can't give up on yourself. You can give up on your goals and your dreams and your ambitions.
You need to have some of these backup plans in place. Once you have those in place, it gives you options. Now instead of having excuses you have options. You can say, instead of doing A, I want to do option B. Instead of doing C, I'm going to go back and do option A. You've got the world is yours. You can move forward one foot in front of the other, one step at a time. Incremental progress done imperfectly over time will lead to monumental results.
